the
IC-300 interconnects I got from you last month live up to their
reputation! Mr P S 21 Nov 2006
I have found the LAT IC300 interconnect I already own"nicer" than
my Chord signature, Nordost SPM and Frey, hence the purchase of the 2m LAT
IC300 leads. Mr MA 4 Jan 2007 |

The IC-300 Signature is our newly developed top of the line
analog interconnect. You may have seen it on our web site two months
ago; then found that it disappeared. We had to remove it because
the first production run was quickly sold out. We have since replenished
and it is available again.
This new cable takes advantage of silver in its design through
use of our proprietary Silverfuse conductors. The IC-300 Signature
has multiple conductors that are solid core, and individually insulated
with a version of Teflon (which we modify to our specifications);
resulting in the best insulation available.
This cable excels in a number of areas; most prevalent are the
outstanding dynamics, focus, inner detail, and harmonic accuracy
and most important, it is enjoyably musical! These improvements
are attributable to new design/construction developments. Specifically:
the weaving geometry is done with a planetary cabler. This weaving
machine, which allows engineers more freedom in designing more complex
and more effective weaving geometries. This process also produces
a much more accurate and consistent weaving geometry. Accuracy and
consistency from foot to foot is essential to replicate and realize
the benefits of the theoretical on paper design. The
process is much more labor intensive, primarily in the set up for
the production run, and in monitoring during the run. Consequently,
it is more expensive to produce.
The IC-200 MARK II takes advantage of silver in its design
through use of our proprietary Silverfuse conductors. The IC-200
MK II has multiple conductors individually insulated. The conductors
are also solid core insulated with Teflon; the best insulation available.
There are, however, two types of Teflon: PTFE and FEP. FEP is less
costly for the cable manufacturer; but is significantly inferior
to PTFE. We use PTFE. Have you ever seen any other cable company
specify that their Teflon is PTFE
and not FEP? There is a message there. We have developed a shielding
system that is completely independent of the signal carrying conductors.
This ensures that no RF or EMI gets into the signal – dead
quiet background.

We encourage and recommend customers to compare this cable against
competitor product at prices at double or more, then decide.
Turntable tone arm cable available with side entry £195 or
bottom entry connector £184 for 1m pair terminated RCA locking
type banana.
Can be supplied with single run of cable £110 side entry and
£100 for bottom entry. Terminated with two locking type RCA
at other end.
We have also included a heavy-duty outer jacket to protect the
interior and to also prevent against sharp bending of the cable.
We have found that Cables that do not have this additional protection,
if bent too sharply, can be susceptible to sustaining small fissures
(cracks) in the conductor which, over a period of time; degrade
the performance of the cable. This is one of the reasons that used
cable gets into the used cable market. Performance has deteriorated
and usually the former owner does not realize why. This is especially
true of Cables that use a mesh cloth as their only outer protection.
(Mesh cloth outer coverings are a sign of a hand made cable. see
our “Cable Hype” page in our web site concerning the
problems with hand made Cables).

We use LOCKING RCA CONNECTORS. These connectors have bodies that
are machined rather than stamped out of sheet metal. They are tight-fitting
and provide the best possible electrical connection. The IC-200
MARK II is our top of the line interconnect. There are some similarities
to the IC-100 MK II such as use of our Silverfuse conductors insulated
with, PTFE Teflon, Silverfuse shields and the same high quality
locking connectors); however, there are significant differences.
The IC-200 MARK II has multiple smaller gauge conductors for improved
handling of skin effect. There are other differences such as cabling
(weaving) pattern and a more effective ant-static, vibration damping
barrier. How does this cable perform? It is designed to be perfectly
neutral without emphasizing any portion of the frequency range.
Sound stage, transparency, openness and fidelity of timbre are,
we believe, unequaled. Our customers agree and tell us this cable
is the equal of any cable on the market and exceeds most others
in performance regardless of price.

EXPLANATION OF OUR PROPRIETARY SILVERFUSE CONDUCTOR MATERIAL: Silverfuse
is a near alloy of silver and copper. IT IS NOT SILVER PLATED OR
SILVER CLAD. Plating (or clad, which is the same thing as plating)
causes a dioding effect when signal is passed through resulting
in brightness and distortion. The Silverfuse process starts with
seven nines OFHC copper wire with a diameter that is slightly larger
than the required size. It is then pulled through a trough of molten
silver. The wire with a silver deposit, is then forced through a
compacting die where it is subject to tremendous pressure. The silver
and the high purity copper are fused together into a near alloy.
The compacting fusion also reduces the wire diameter to the desired
size. No dioding subsequently occurs with this process. The result
provides for the benefits of silver; which are excellent definition
and clarity, with the high purity copper benefits of warmth and
mellowness.
The Competition: up to $2,000/meter pair
This cable is finding increasing acceptance in the recording and
mastering studio sector and is in use in one of the two SACD equipped
mastering studios in the UK.

I got the LAT IC-300 i/c today and connected my phono stage to amp with
it.Initial impressions were that it was a tad brighter in the treble,
but bass is more, tuneful, defined and textured. Everything seems clearer
and more open than with the JPS FX i/c's which I still think are good, and
add a little warmth and bloom to the bass.
I have Townshend Isolda speaker cable which is single wired and was
given a short length of some cheaper Chord speaker cable to replace the
jumpers.I decided to try the Isolda in the treble speaker terminals rather
than the bass ones and this has reduced the brightness of the treble no
end. Amazing what a small thing like that can make. This is a very fast
cable, bass lines are tight and clear in comparison to the JPS, which
is a bonus as I listen to lots of reggae.Listened to the Magic Numbers
album on vinyl and there was no sign of sibilance at all which I've had
sometimes in the past.
I'm tempted to now try the LAT SS1000 II speaker cable, which I believe
comes with a try before you buy offer.
Anyway thought I'd let you know. By the way I'm no cable expert and
haven't tried any expensive ones in my system. I think the IC-300 retails
for £195.00 per metre".
