LAT International IC-100 MkII £95 jjjj

This US-made cable comes from New Jersey and is a revised version of the IC-100D given a five-star review  last year and High Recommended in the 1997 What Hi-Fi Awards.  Using cores of high-quality copper clad in silver and Teflon, this is a balanced design with a separate shield, and outer woven fabric coating and a transparent jacket.  The big change here is from stranded conductors to solid-core.

Most striking to the user will be the high-quality gold-plated phono plugs fitted to the cable, which have a screw-down collar to clamp them in the socket.  How well do they work?  Well, just don’t over-tighten them, then try to tug them off without unscrewing!  The Cables are directional, arrows on the jacket indicating source-to-amp direction.

These Cables are very good: they deliver a bid, powerful dynamic sound when used with suitable electronics, and can be firmly recommended for use with good CD players and amplification.  Provided your source can produce it, this cable can deliver to your amp the sort of bass subwoofers love – fast, extended and deeply exciting – while giving a high atmospheric and detailed treble.  Rock and dance fans will love it, but the cable is just as adept with classical or jazz music thanks to its neutral balance.  This is an excellent buy.

LAT International IC-100-D £89 jjjjj

Drive, timing and soundstage depth are exemplary, with a fresh, invigorating performance.  What especially sets the IC-100-D apart is its definition and focus; separation is supreme, ensuring each individual detail stands out within the cohesive whole.  Effortlessly good.
